The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has confirmed that predictions of severe and disruptive rains for the province remain on track. Expect moderate rain today, increasing in volume on Monday and Tuesday as a second cold front moves over the Overberg and Cape Wineland District.

Warnings issued:
Level 8: Severe rainfall
Level 5: Strong winds

Stay up to date:
* Follow weather updates on trusted news platforms
* Keep cell phones and powerbanks charged
* Schools will decide on closures based on their individual risk - follow school communications for updates

Traffic lights in Onrus and Vermont are off.

Power is also off in Onrus, Vermont, Hawston and Fisherhaven. Eskom has confirmed that the Dispatching and Control Department is investigating the issue, while technicians are en route to the affected sites.

These areas remain dependent on Eskom supply and their technicians.

We celebrated the magic of reading, exploring new worlds, and sharpening young minds.
We encourage our entire community learners and parents to pick up a book, share a story, and ignite a lifelong love of reading, as books strengthen our community and open doors to opportunity.
