The Eastern Cape Communication Forum mourms the death of Mr Wandile Fana. He was part of the Interim Board for ECCF. A seasoned journalist who championed the voices of community media. Mr FANA will be greatly missed for his selfless and dedicated contribution to the community media and developmemt of journalist. We express our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. MHSRP.

One of the aims of the The Eastern Cape Communication Forum - ECCF is to support advocacy work through media and communication, especially among the youth and Civil Society Organisations.

Wits University has produced two free Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)


Activism and Citizen Journalism through Media.
This course is aimed at people working in civil society and NGOs. It provides a practical guide to using both traditional and social media to promote a social cause. The lead academic is Paul McNally, from the Citizen Justice Network in the Wits School of Journalism. The course will run from 3 October to 31 October 2018. Additional information is available at:

Civil Society and African Media Policy in the Digital Age.
This course is aimed at people working in media and civil society organisations. It is about cultivating media freedom in Africa, and will equip participants with the knowledge required to advocate for improved policy and practice. The lead academic is Prof Justine Limpitlaw, from the Wits LINK Centre. The course will run from 10 October to 21 November 2018.
