The Makana Business and Residents Association(MBRA) calls on the community of Makhanda to support our efforts to facilitate the restoration of our small City.

After many years of attempting to enhance the quality of life of our residents through engagement with local and provincial governments, the MBRA now redirected its focus to holding the local authority accountable for service delivery, maintenance of infrastructure and implementation of its bylaws.
In addition, the MBRA would like to encourage business owners and residents to take ownership of their corner of the City by maintaining the sections of streets and pavements in front of their own buildings and houses.

Makhanda business owners and residents are invited to support our initiatives by becoming a member.

HOLIDAY CHEER AT LITTLE SOULS PRE-SCHOOL

Day 1 of the holiday programme kicked off with a festive visit from Hill Street Library's Children's Librarian, Phumeza Tshikila, and Library Assistant, Nomfundo Kepe.

Crafting Christmas Joy

The dynamic duo joined forces with Megan to guide the enthusiastic youngsters in creating their very own Christmas cards. Laughter and creativity filled the air as the children's imaginations ran wild with glitter, stickers, and colorful paper.

A Tasty Treat

To make the day even more special, the children were treated to a delicious snack of Niknaks Chips, sparking smiles and happy chatter.

A Heartfelt Thank You

The team at Little Souls Pre-School expressed their gratitude to Phumeza, Nomfundo, and Megan for sharing their time and talents with the children.

Looking Forward to More Fun

KINGSWOOD COLLEGE STUDENTS MAKE A LASTING IMPACT MAKANA COMMUNITY LIBRARY

As part of their ongoing Community Engagement Projects, the Kingswood College Reading Club has been visiting the Makana Community Library every Wednesday to assist Grade 4 and 5 learners from Grahamstown Primary School (GPS) who struggle with reading.

Go MAD Day Initiative

Recently, a group of Grade 11 students, including Nick Godwin-Pritchard, participated in the school's Go MAD Day (Make a Difference Day) by painting the library hall walls to create a more welcoming environment and user friendly.

Inspiring Quotes from Nick Godwin-Pritchard

"Giving back to the community is incredibly important to me, as it aligns with my Christian ethos and belief in serving others. It's both fulfilling for myself and a valuable experience for everyone involved."

"This year, I led the Make a Difference Day initiatives for the community library, organising projects such as painting murals, leading critical thinking workshops, and managing logistics for each event."

Appreciation and Gratitude

The Makana Community Library extends its heartfelt gratitude to Nick and the Kingswood Reading Club for their selfless contributions.

"We are deeply thankful for the sterling work the Kingswood Reading Club has done for our community. Their dedication and compassion have made a tangible difference in the lives of our learners."
