Our Story
HISTORY OF GALWAY PRIMARY SCHOOL Galway Primary School (8 Bapaume street: Delville, Germiston) started off as a Departmental Pre-primary school named “Preprimêre Skool Delville Pre- Primary School”. During this period, the original school property was subdivided and the then Transvaal Provincial Administration (T.P.A) utilized a portion of the property for their Library Services. The entrance used by the “Preprimêre Skool Delville Pre-Primary School” was in Galway street. In 1997 a decision was taken for the school to convert to a primary school. The new name adopted for the school was Galway Primary School, named after the street the school's entrance was situated in and therefore making its locality easily identifiable. In January 1999 the first grade1 learners started to attend the new primary school. Each year following, the next grade was implemented until the school had its first grade 7 learners enrolled in 2005. The number of enrolled learners during 2012 totaled ± 750. The school has experienced significant growth during the last few years and following extended negotiations between the school, GDE and other Provincial Departments the original extended property was handed back to the school in April 2015. Currently the school has an enrolled number of learners of a thousand plus.
