HISTORY MADE

Khomotso Moswete, former Ekurhuleni West TVET College student, won 1st Place as an Electrician at the South African National Artisan Awards recently held at the Radisson Hotel in Kempton Park

Winning this is more than a personal achievement for me.

As a young Black woman in a male-dominated trade — where we often have to work twice as hard just to be accepted — this win proves that we don't just belong here, we can lead and excel at the highest level.

This award represents every late night studying, every tough day on site, and every moment I stood tall against the odds. It proves that skill has no gender or race — only hard work and passion.

I carry the name of Ekurhuleni West TVET College with pride. Thank you to my lecturers and mentors who laid the foundation for this journey.

Most importantly, I want this to be a beacon for young girls across South Africa who love the toolbox. If you love the work, don't let anyone tell you it's not for you.

I hope you see my win and see your OWN potential. I'm honoured to break this ceiling and make the path wider for the next generation of female artisans.

• National Senior Certificate with Mathematics & Science
• NC(V) Level 4 Electrical
• N3 Electrical

Ekurhuleni West TVET College, in collaboration with CXI-Africa, is recruiting EWC TVET College students for the 6-month CHIETA Data Lab Project at Tembisa Campus.

The programme offers an opportunity to gain practical, real-world experience in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, work with real datasets, develop prototype solutions, and strengthen your industry readiness.

Eligibility: EWC TVET College students
Requirements: Completed NC(V) L2, L3 & L4 in IT or equivalent
Duration: 6 months
Availability: Immediate
Stipend: Available to successful participants

🎓🚐 DAY 5 | Drive by Campaign

What a journey it has been! 🙌🏽 The Gauteng–Free State TVET Colleges Drive-By Campaign officially came to a close with a memorable closing function hosted at Maluti TVET College in Qwa Qwa.

Over five impactful days, the campaign travelled across communities, creating awareness, connecting with young people and highlighting the transition to Occupational Programmes — opening new pathways for learners to gain practical skills, build their careers and prepare for the world of work. 🛠️🎓

The campaign also showcased the importance of TVET education, skills development and career opportunities, while strengthening connections between colleges and the communities they serve. 📚💡

As we close this chapter, we celebrate the partnerships, engagements and communities that made this journey possible.
