LIMPOPO PREMIER DR PHOPHI RAMATHUBA TO HAND OVER 26 GNT BUSES

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba will on Thursday, 17 September 2026 hand over 26 Great North Transport (GNT) buses to the community of Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality and surrounding areas at Bapedi GNT Bus Depot in Sekhukhune District.

This initiative forms part of the Limpopo Economic Development Agency's (LEDA) GNT turnaround strategy following the operational challenges that the entity encountered over the years. Of the 26 buses, 16 are newly procured while 10 were restored inhouse after they experienced mechanical failures for months.

"We are delighted to witness LEDA turnaround strategy at GNT bearing fruits. For a long time our people have been suffering without government subsidised transport in the Sekhukhune District. This is an indication that the entity is on course to restore GNT service across our province." Premier Ramathuba said.

Members of the media are invited to attend the event as follows:

Date: 17 September 2026
Venue: Bapedi Bus Depot, Next to Burgersfort, Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality, Sekhukhune District.
Time: 09:00
