On this day in 1954, apartheid’s brutal forced removals tore families apart under the Group Areas Act, targeting communities like Sophiatown for destruction.

The ANC, led by Cde Walter Sisulu, stood in defiance, mobilising thousands to resist the erasure of Black communities and defend their right to land, dignity and belonging.

The Department has advertised a number of posts across all levels within the system.

The requirements for application are clearly outlined for each post and paying for appointment is not one of them.

The Department therefore strongly warns that under no circumstances should anyone attempt to buy or sell posts.
Any such actions are illegal and will not be tolerated.

Members of the public and officials are urged to report any individual or official suspected of being involved in these practices to law enforcement authorities.

The Department remains committed to a fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process.

Yesterday the ward Cllr of ward 4 met with the people of Ext 2 where there is an establishment of new RDP houses.

Issues raised includes Electrification, regraveling of roads, water and sewer line house connections where there are empty stands, which will be attended to by the municipality.

Public Notice

Emakhazeni Local Municipality working with Peo Global will be sending out Data Collectors to all wards to collect information regarding properties.

The Data Collectors will be wearing orange reflectors and will produce identity cards as proof of identification.

The data that will be collected requires the following information:

* Identity Number;
* Municipal account number;
* Prepaid Meter number
* Picture of the property, water meter and electricity meter;
* number of toilets:
* Number of electricity meters

Kindly note that they will be scanning your Identity book/card and no copy should be given to them.
