Our teams are working across the city to locate faults, repair damaged infrastructure, and restore power to affected communities.

Technicians have successfully identified the fault and are now carrying out repair work to restore normal supply.

A stolen service cable has left residents on Johan van der Merwe Street without electricity. Repair teams are replacing the damaged infrastructure and working to restore power supply as quickly and safely as possible.

🎙️ Dr Letsepa Pakkies, Acting Chief Director for Intergovernmental Affairs Policy at National Treasury, joined the panel discussion on “Unlocking Subnational Climate Finance in Africa” at the 2026 C40 Africa Clean Air Transport Finance Academy in Nairobi, Kenya. 🇰🇪🌍

His contribution highlighted the importance of strengthening municipal finance systems, improving project preparation, and creating credible pathways for cities to access climate finance. 🌱

For Ekurhuleni, this conversation is directly linked to the Metro Trading Services Reforms, which aim to improve the financial sustainability, accountability and operational performance of core municipal services, including water, electricity, waste and transport. 🚰⚡♻️🚍

🌍 The City of Ekurhuleni is participating in the 2026 C40 Africa Clean Air Transport Finance Academy, taking place from 16 to 18 June 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya. 🇰🇪

Led by Acting Group Chief Financial Officer, Mr General Moruri, the City’s delegation joins African cities, national government representatives, technical experts, financiers and investors to explore practical financing solutions for clean transport projects and improved urban air quality. 🚍🌱

As an industrial and transport-intensive metro, Ekurhuleni’s participation reflects its commitment to cleaner air, healthier communities and more sustainable transport systems. 🌿

The Academy will support the City’s efforts to strengthen bankable clean transport project proposals, unlock funding opportunities and build strategic partnerships. 🤝💡

These efforts form part of Ekurhuleni’s long-term work to reduce pollution, improve mobility and deliver lasting benefits for residents.

The Academy is supported by C40 Cities and its partners. No per diems or out-of-pocket reimbursements are provided to participating delegates.

✔️ Collecting refuse bags along main roads
✔️ Litter picking
✔️ Servicing bulk containers
✔️ Clearing illegal dumping hotspots

⚠️ Teams are attending to the power outage caused by an attempted cable theft of an oil cable feeder in Vulcania.

🔍 Assessments have been completed, and work is progressing to contain the oil leakages on the cable.

🛠️ Teams are sourcing the materials required for repairs. Once all required material are on site, repair work will commence.

Their businesses among the 28 local businesses receiving support from the , in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Economic Development, through the High Impact Partnership and Job Creation Initiative.
