SASCO UFH-EL OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON PASSING OF CDR Asemahle Mahle Nhela Mgatyelwa

The South African Students Congress Fort Hare East London branch has learnt of the untimely death of Asemahle Mgatyelwa, a sister, compatriot, a scholar and a precious gift the Branch has ever been blessed with in its ranks.

“Mahle” as affectionately called among her peers and comrades who was a loyal, strong and innovative leader who wanted only the best for the organization because she had experienced the campus work done by SASCO to better the life of students at first hand and always knew that SASCO carried the aspirations and hopes of the young people to the best of its capabilities. We feel that Asemahle had clandestinely decided to rest in the land of the depart because she may have known that we were going to be shattered and a huge scar would be left it is a living proof that she was a peace loving, humbly and sweet soul who would never hurt a fly even for a hundred million. She was a sweet, caring and humble person yet very avid and straightforward. We have learnt a lot from her as an older sister, a senior to most of us who came after 2015. She was very intelligent, hardworking and smart young women who had a very bright future ahead, I guess the lord had other plans for her.As a multitalented person she was also affiliated to Fort Hare choir in which she was laureled alongside her fellow choir mates as token of appreciation at the event they used to participating in.

As a custodian of the SASCO constitution she excelled in the space of academics moving in line with one of the SASCO’s Pillars and principles which is Academic excellence. She was conferred with a degree in Social Work in 2019 from the University of Fort Hare. SASCO UFH Branch endeavors to express her heartfelt condolences to the family of comrade Asemahle Mgatyelwa, especially her young sister she mentored and proudly cared for. We pledge our support during these dark and unfortunate times the family is faced with.

The South African Students Congress UFH-EL lowers its flag in honour of this finest revolutionary, who dedicated her life and offered her services for their struggle against any injustice possed against students and as an revolutionary agent of change “Mahle” in pursuit of a transformed society and decolonized education, she was in the fore front in the struggle against the ‘privileged’ to achieve social justice and equal community for all those who live in it.

Rest in power Mbokotho, Aluta Continua!
You have achieved the impossible, we will take where you left off

SASCO UFH-EL OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON PASSING OF CDR LUZUKO "LUZZI" HLABENI

The South African Student Congress FortHare East London Branch expresses its heartfelt condolences to the family of Comrade Luzuko "Luzzi" Hlabeni , a member of SASCO in good standing, a very humble and energetic person on the organization whom you will never be bored when you're in his company, equally a person who never had any kind of quarrel with anyone.

The South African Student Congress UFH-EL lowers its red flag to half mast in honour of this finest revolutionary, Cdr of highest note who in his days dedicated his life and offered his services for the struggle against any injustice possed against students as that is a duty and a responsibility for every member of SASCO. Comrade Luzuko once served as the Branch Executive Committe member of SASCO 2016/2017, serving in the portfolio of Media and Publicity.

Comrade Luzzi was a true and thorough definition of what manner should a young person be and how they should behave, very much entertaining and selfless. He would refer to himself as "IKUMKANIKAZI", and indeed as the organization we say uwile umthi omkhulu.

This teaches us as the organization and as the society in general that we must appreciate and love people and not wait for them to be no more on order to show our love for them.

May his revolutionary soul rest in peace kakade isitya esihle asidleli but thina we know that nguYehova onikayo kwaye ikwanguye othabathileyo so we must forever worship him.

Hamba kahle Guerilla lamabutho sohlala sikukhumbula kuba uhamba usizimele but if God's will makubenjalo..Rest in Power Kumkanikazi ✊✊

Revolutionary greetings fellow students of University of Fort Hare at large

The South African Student Congress UFH-EL branch sat its first BEC meeting yesterday on the 27th of August 2018 as required by Section 26.17 of the organizations constitution which states that the newly elected BEC should convene within 72 hours after being elected into office.

The BEC notes the hogwash claims that are being made by one of the organisations members and as the leadership we plan on dealing with such cases internally and also as soon as possible as to safe guard the organisations public image. As we all know that SASCO is an organisation which was formed to deal with student issues. The branch leadership received an update from its SRC deployee’s which has led the BEC to take a stance on the issues that the students are currently facing.

1.Fee Waivers

It has come to our attention that the process of loading fee waivers has come to a standstill as the finance department is still in a process of drafting a plan of action. SASCO calls upon the finance department to fasten the planning process and start loading the fee waivers as soon as possible.

2.NSFAS

The suspension of the NSFAS boss, Mr Zwane comes with great shock to us as the branch executive committee as we understand the possible consequences of such action during this critical time in which most of the 2017 applications have not yet been responded to. The organisation calls upon the minister of education to quickly intervene and ensure stabilisation in the board of NSFAS as we note that when elephants fight it is the grass that suffers the most.

3.Appeals

We would like to draw the attention of students who lodged their appeals to note that there is a list which contains names of students whom their appeals were processed at the finance department. We request that students must ensure that they check their appeals status at the finance department. SASCO commits itself to fight for those who received a negative response from their appeals applications.
