Did you know Yambone made a film with about solar power?
In 2023, the Yambone Initiative received a generous private donation of 120 Juro Solar Kits made by (Africa’s Leading Fibreglass Kiosk Manufacturer and Supplier) with the intention to share and spread some light to the communities of Chipanje Chetu where access to electricity is scarce.
Each Juro Solar Kit includes a solar panel, a battery, a fan, 3 lights, multiple charging ports and a FM radio!
The distribution of these kits was specifically aimed at helping our most ‘vulnerable’ community members, with a particular focus on women who stand to gain the most from increased access to electrical resources.
The Yambone team was deeply moved by the heartwarming reception and the touching stories that unfolded after distributing the kits. Even in the face of recent loss, Mama Daima Ali (captured in the cover image), residing in Posto Nova Madeira, now joyfully dances to the music emanating from her new solar-powered radio. Such inspiring stories resonate with us, igniting a desire within us to join in the dance of hope and positivity.
Thanks to another generous private donation we’ve been able to purchase a further 150 kits which will be distributed throughout the project area in 2024.
Yambone is a community conservation initiative based out of northern Mozambique that strives to build resilient communities within Chipanje Chetu and create opportunities for better livelihoods, while promoting coexistence with local wildlife and preserving natural resources. More content such as this will be released over the course of the next few months so please stay tuned to follow the Yambone journey.
