We are at Zazulwana, Mnquma Municipality Ward 6, where the community is coming out in numbers to welcome new members into the United Democratic Movement.

The atmosphere is electric as people unite behind a common vision for change and a better future for their communities.

The members will be addressed by the UDM President, Bantubonke Holomisa, as we continue to grow the UDM Family across the Eastern Cape.

Today, we visited Ward 13, where we started at Nkangeleko Primary School before proceeding to engage with residents who had been without electricity for weeks.

We listened to their concerns and witnessed firsthand the challenges they are facing. Our UDM Councillor Candidate, Siya Nxasana, played a huge role in facilitating a new transformer for the affected community.

This is what people,centred leadership looks like — being present, listening to the community, and working towards practical solutions.

The Incoming BCMM Mayor, Nqabayomzi Khwankwa, has intervened to support families affected by a devastating fire disaster in Ward 1, Duncan Village, which destroyed seven households.

Under the leadership of our UDM Councillor Candidate, Khotso Kobo, we stand with the affected families during this difficult time. This is what leadership is about ,being present, listening to the people, and taking action when our communities need us most.

The UDM remains committed to restoring dignity, supporting our communities, and ensuring that no family is left behind.

Today, we handed over a wheelchair to a family in Ward 5 after visiting them a few weeks ago and learning about their needs.

We made a commitment to assist, and we delivered as promised.

One of the residents of Gompo Town in Ward 7 has raised concerns about the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality’s plans to construct RDP houses in the area. The resident is opposed to the proposed development, arguing that the construction of RDP houses could negatively affect the value of existing properties in the neighbourhood.

The resident believes that the municipality should reconsider the location of the proposed development and engage with affected residents before proceeding with the project.

The Incoming Executive Mayor, Nqabayomzi Kwankwa, met with residents of Gompo Town to engage directly on the pressing issues affecting the community.

The meeting focused on concerns such as high rates and other challenges that continue to impact residents’ daily lives. The engagement provided an opportunity for community members to voice their concerns, while the Incoming Executive Mayor listened and discussed possible ways forward.
