Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command Official Statement
28th April 2019

Revolutionary greetings to the university community

It is with great dismay that our University management is in tutus and is on the verge of collapsing. It is also alarming to be in this state as an institution because this instability will impact drastically to the grass roots level and will affect the students in particular. Prof. PLO Lumumba once said,” When politics stumble, it is the masses that suffer”. This seeks to highlight that this will impact drastically in students ranks given the fact that there many outstanding issues that needs urgent attention.

EFFSC is sceptical with all the issues that are unfolding in the institution. The organisation is concerned with the recent news pertaining the university council and in the intervention made by the Ministry. The concern is on the procedure and the approach used in addressing the matter or remedying the status quo. The ministry has decided to appoint an administrator that will administer the institution and also the University Vice Chancellor has been reinstated in the process.

The organisation is concern with this exclusionary approach adopted. The organisation notes the fact that there was no consultative process towards the decisions that the ministry took. The stakeholders are important towards the proper functioning or operation of the institution and they ought to form part and parcel of any important decisions of the institution. The organisation questions the two centres of power that are deliberately created in Fort Hare and anticipates the conflicts that will unfold. It is alarming that an administrator is appointed and the vice chancellor is there also, hence, we are concerned. The EFFSC also would like to further take an informed and well-guided posture with regards to the meeting scheduled today.

We hope that these issues will be attended to with immediate effect and that remedial solutions will be put into place to ensure peace, harmony and stability in the institution.

Yours in the revolution

EFFSC UFH Media Statement

Revolutionary greetings

EFFSC UFH -EL Extends its gratitude to the Electorate for entrusting it with the duty to lead the EL Campus.
EFFSC would like to extend its gratitude to it members, the student populace of Fort Hare at large and East London in particular. The Campaign was not easy, from the NGENKANI CAMPAIGN where our members cut their holidays short and dedicated their time to ensuring that the Black child gains access to the doors of learning, to the final push; door to door and res to res campaigns and through all of that the EFF Students Command emerged victorious.

We note and reject with the contempt it deserves, the incompetence displayed by the Electoral Agency-KDBS consulting which resulted in the East London campus encountering delays during the election day, where voting was scheduled to start at 08:00 AM but started after 13:30 PM
EFFSC also appreciates the good conduct of different organisations to ensure that the election process ran smoothly despite the problems we encountered before the process start.

To the students of Fort Hare:
Without your trust on us we would not have attained the opportunity to lead the incoming SRC. We see this as a test and a chance to prove our capabilities; thank you for believing in us. It's not for every organisation to move from 1 seat in 2 elections to 3 seats in the 3rd election, this symbolises significant growth.

An EFFSC led SRC will not work in isolation from University structures and students in general, to ensure all issues affecting students get the attention they deserve. Hence we will deploy people who are up for the Task, The EFFSC will govern together with students.
