Project Ignite

Project Ignite Our mission is to ensure that orphaned and at-risk children feel loved and equipped for independence and long-term success. Anne’s Catholic Parish, Sydenham.

Project Ignite was born on March 2014 and formed as a church ministry at St. Our vision was to ignite the Holy Spirit in the community to help us care and love each other more. Through small gestures of charity we hoping the Holy Spirit will draw people to God therefore creating a better world where there is only peace and happiness. Project Ignite only has volunteer staffs currently, which are pa

ssionate and committed to ensure that our mission is carried out, and who have contributed to our success over the past years. As a result of this overwhelming support from the community, in June 2017 Project Ignite registered as a NPO with the Department of Social Development, to allow us to grow further and reach more vulnerable and orphaned children. Our society has forgotten how to love; we have become greedy, selfish and uncompassionate, all because people have disregarded one of the most important commandments of God, “Love your neighbour as yourself”. Every day we see on the news and in our community children abandoned, violence, rape, drug and alcohol abuse and the scourge of HIV/AIDS. We hope to address these issues in society and to assist those that are victims, with a special focus on children that are orphaned as a direct result of these problems in society. We hope to restore the balance of injustice, by empowering those that are vulnerable and orphaned by providing hope for the future. We aim to reconstruct these children self-esteem, confidence and values so that they can start trusting and learn to love again, therefore giving them the tools to succeed in life. Project Ignites main goal is to provide birthday gifts for kids who live in orphanages by coordinating with the community to get involved by adopting an orphan for the day and making them feel special and loved on their birthday. We hope to expand the birthday gift initiative to all orphanages in the Durban area, eventually expanding our network throughout Kwazulu-Natal and eventually throughout South Africa, focusing on children aged between 2 – 18 years old. VISION STATEMENT

To ignite the Holy Spirit in everyone with works of charity, compassion, love and unity to create a world where there is peace, joy and prosperity.

3. MISSION STATEMENT

To touch the lives of vulnerable and orphaned children in orphanages, by making them feel special and loved on their birthday, as well as to empower them to ensure they have a joyful and successful future.
