Water Outage Update – Reservoir Levels 12 June 2026 | 17h36
Greetings Ward 11 Residents,
Please note that I have been monitoring the reservoir levels across our supply network.
At present, Reservoir 1 (Parkvale VD) and Reservoir 3 (Hillview and Barracuda VD) are recording critically low levels of 2.0 and below. This creates a significant risk of water supply interruptions as the reservoirs continue to deplete throughout the evening.
I have also been informed that there are operational challenges, with certain systems currently functioning manually. This raises concerns that reservoir levels may not be monitored and communicated effectively when they approach critical levels.
I have formally raised these concerns with municipal officials and requested urgent oversight and intervention. While only one of these reservoirs falls within Ward 11, the others are located within Ward 37 and also impact residents in our area.
Unfortunately, due to ongoing challenges within the water department, including the backlog of leaks and shortages of plumbing teams across the city, responses from officials have been limited.
Based on previous experiences in similar situations, I anticipate that the affected reservoirs may be temporarily isolated to allow water levels to recover overnight. Should this occur, water supply may be restored during the course of tomorrow morning.
Please note that this update is based on my monitoring of the system and previous operational patterns. It is not an official communication from the municipality, as no formal response has been received at this stage.
I will continue to engage officials and provide updates as soon as further information becomes available.
Kind Regards,
Cllr A.E. Peterson Ward 11 Councillor
