*Please note the following important updates regarding CapeNature facilities and wilderness areas:*

Closed Areas & Facilities

All CapeNature Wilderness Areas (Areas A, B & C) are closed

Wolfberg Arch (Area B) is closed

Algeria Trails have completely burnt out and will remain closed for several months

Accommodation at Algeria and Bosherberge is closed

Open Areas & Facilities

Matjiesrivier – Open

Stadsaal – Open

Truitjieskraal – Open

Kliphuis Campsite (Pakhuis Pass) – Open

Please note that we still have active fire lines behind Tafelberg, Sneeuberg, and Maltese Cross.

Our CapeNature website and social media platforms have also communicated that the Wilderness is closed. People seem confused about Stadsaal and Truitjieskraal - these are part of Matjiesrivier Nature Reserve, not the Wilderness Area.

Kindly ensure that all reception staff and relevant personnel are informed of these updates to avoid any confusion.

With the Winter rainfall the landscapes around us transform turning a lush green and the rising of the Jan Dissels River means we can soon look forward to wild flower abundance! 🌼The first few flowers have begun shooting through the ground showcasing how resilient and powerful nature is - this wild flower display is truly a bucketlist experience to witness! 🦋🤞🏼

The best time to witness this mesmerising phenomenon is after the winter rain usually sometime between the beginning of August to late September ( please remember this is a natural occurance and depends entierly on the weather conditions, there is no guarentee but your chances of seeing these flowers in bloom is highly likely. The best viewing conditions are around midday with full sun to see the flowers open) 🌞
