The visit was marked by productive discussions focused on driving sustainable development, creating opportunities, and improving the lives of local communities.

The engagement was a great success and reflects a shared commitment to collaboration, progress, and building a brighter future for the people of Merafong.

COMMUNITY UPDATE: MERAFONG CITY LOCAL MUNICIPALITY & SAMWU ENGAGEMENT

The Merafong City Local Municipality would like to inform all residents of Merafong City that a meeting between Municipal Senior Management and the South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) was successfully held today, 16 April 2026.

The engagement formed part of ongoing efforts to address labour related matters that have recently resulted in picketing action by union members. We are pleased to report that the meeting was constructive and marked a positive step towards finding amicable solutions to the issues raised.

A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for 04 May 2026, where further discussions will continue in pursuit of lasting resolutions.
