A unique opportunity to learn more about the Orcas of Norway at the Shark Museum in Simon's Town, Cape Town. It happens on the 9th of March 2024 at 10:30

The Shark Museum is open only on the days of the scheduled events. In order to attend an event, registration is compulsory. People who want to attend the lecture must send an email to [email protected]
The entrance fee is R50.

Film Screening at the L***a Theatre in Gardens: Prejudice & Pride – Qu**rs in Swedish Cinema (28 February, 18h00-20h00)

This film is a rainbow-coloured roller coaster ride through a collection of q***r Swedish films from 1916 to now. Presented by the Swedish Embassy in Pretoria & the Swedish Institute.

We will be handing out t-shirts, flags and other merchandise to the Swedish community. If you are interested in joining, please let me know. We will meet at Preswitch Primary School at 10h00. The march ends at Green Point Track for the Mardi Gras event.

The final event in the 2024 Pride Month Calendar. There will be a village of stalls selling LGBTQIA+ goodies, food stalls, bars and refreshment stations and a children’s area. This is a family friendly event!

The Embassy will be setting up a gazebo with seating at the Green Point Track, and a Swedish Institute exhibition to showcase Sweden as a country.

This years event will be the biggest ever Pride event the City has ever seen. with visitors from the LGBTI+ communities from around the globe.

The Galumphing Duo is an improvising jazz partnership featuring South African born Shannon Mowday and Norwegian Jørgen Bjelkerud. Despite coming from different backgrounds and generations, they have found common ground in composition and improvisation.

Their Cape Town tour runs from 12 to 23 July, 2023, and includes a collaboration with Kevin Gibson, Lilavan Gangen and Reza Khota

NORWEGIAN MUNICIPAL AND COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTIONS - 2023

The Consulate in Cape Town is currently facilitating voting for the Norwegian municipal and county council elections.
If you would like to vote in Cape Town, please use the link to the Consulate's booking page to make an appointment. We will unfortunately be unable to assist voters without a pre-booked appointment.

Voters will be required to bring valid Norwegian photo ID to confirm their identity.
See Valgdirektoratet's regulations regarding photo ID here.

Due to difficulties with the local postal service, votes will be sent to Norway via the Embassy in Pretoria.

We would encourage voters to make appointments as early in the voting period as possible. This will ensure sufficient time for votes to get to Norway in order to be counted.

Voting at the Consulate will be conducted in 3 phases:

Present to 19 July (inclusive) - In person voting at the Consulate.
Norwegians will be able to vote Monday to Friday during pre-booked voting appointments.

20 July - 27 August - Postal voting materials available for collection at the Consulate.
For those who are unable to attend during the in-person voting periods, we will have postal voting packs available for collection at the consulate by appointment. These will contain official voting materials, along with an instructional leaflet explaining the postal voting process.

If you intend to go the postal vote route, you are welcome to submit your completed postal voting envelope at the Consulate. Please make an appointment for this submission.

The final day for postal vote submission is 30 August in order for the ballots to be shipped to Norway in time to be counted.

28 August - 30 August - Final voting days at the Consulate in Cape Town
These dates will be the last opportunity to vote in person at the Consulate in Cape Town.
