🇷🇴 La Mulți Ani, România! 🇷🇴
Celebrating Romania’s National Day in Cape Town
Today we had the honour of celebrating the National Day of Romania together with our vibrant Romanian community in the Western Cape. As the Consulate General of Romania in Cape Town, it was a privilege to host one of our most memorable events — a joyful blend of Romanian culture, traditions, food, and music, beautifully enriched by the warm South African spirit.
This celebration would not have been possible without the extraordinary support and dedication of our Romanian community/Comunitatea Romanilor din Cape Town - Western Cape. Your hard work, generosity, and unity made this day truly special. Vă mulțumim din suflet! 💙💛❤️
We are deeply grateful for the presence of the members of the Diplomatic Corps of Cape Town, whom we were honoured to welcome — especially meaningful as the Consul General of Romania currently serves as the Dean of the Consular Corps. Your solidarity and friendship are sincerely appreciated.
Our sincere thanks also go to the officials of the Western Cape Government, whose presence today added significance and support to our celebration.
We were further honoured by the participation of distinguished guests, including members of Rotary Club of Sea Point, as well as representatives of religious organisations and NGOs who joined us in marking this important day. Your partnership and community work are truly valued.
A heartfelt appreciation goes to the students of EA - The Entrepreneurship Academy from Bucharest, who are currently in Cape Town continuing their learning journey. Not only did you join us today to celebrate Romania’s National Day abroad, but you also actively contributed to our outreach efforts by supporting social projects in underprivileged areas such as Khayelitsha. Your compassion and commitment embody the very best of Romanian youth leadership.
We are also delighted to extend a special thank-you to Albertus van den Merwe, the winemaker behind Crama Tohani in Romania, who honoured us with his presence today. He offered our community and guests an exceptional showcase of the wine he created in Romania, “Siel” (Suflet) — a beautiful expression of passion, craft, and the connection between South Africa and Romania. A special thank to Wine farm who generously offered the Romanian wine for tasting!

🎨 A Special Artistic Tribute — Diana Cezar & “Sip & Savour”
A very warm and heartfelt thank-you goes to Diana Cezar, a Romanian-born visionary performance maker, producer, and tech entrepreneur, who has captivated audiences across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Canada, and Africa for over two decades. Today, Diana officially introduced her newest artistic concept, “Sip & Savour.”
“Sip & Savour” transforms wine tasting into a vivid, multisensory artistic immersion — blending the rich flavours of fine wines with bold installation art and live performances. It is a bespoke experience that awakens taste, sight, sound, smell, and touch, crafting a memorable artistic moment that leaves guests inspired and experiencing wine as a form of magic.
To bring this unique concept to life, Diana collaborated with extraordinary South African artists whose performances infused Romanian celebration with South African creative brilliance:
🎤 Pam Lunguza
A versatile Afro-jazz singer and composer who has performed on national and international stages. She has created music for film and documentaries, including Faces of Africa. Today she performed in Romanian languag, in a beautiful duet with pianist Mtheto Mathenjwa.
🩰 Akona Florian
A trained ballet and contemporary dancer and coach with over 20 years of stage experience, bringing elegance, strength, and expressive movement to today’s performance.
⭐ Tariro Daisy
Winner of Best Acro Dancer 2025, holder of over 60 gold medals, recipient of the Most Outstanding Acro Competition Solo, and selected to represent South Africa at the World Dance Movement Competition in Italy. Her performance added power, artistry, and youthful brilliance to the celebration.
Their contributions — curated under Diana Cezar’s artistic direction — created a beautiful bridge between Romanian flavour and South African cultural expression, completing the wine experience with soul, rhythm, and movement.
To all our guests, friends, and partners — thank you for sharing this special moment with us and for making today unforgettable.
La mulți ani, România! May our community continue to grow stronger and more united here in Cape Town.
