Today, the Sea Point City Improvement District is saddened by the news of the passing of former board member, Peter Barnard.

Peter served on the SPCID Board from May 2007 to July 2023, dedicating many years of service to the Sea Point community.

Heather Tager, SPCID COO, fondly remembers Peter from his days at the well-known Ari’s Souvlaki restaurant. Peter was the type of person who always carried an energy of happiness, friendly, welcoming, and always ready with a smile.

SPCID Chairman Jacques Weber said: “Peter was a consummate gentleman with a heart of gold, a great sense of humour, and the kind of person who always made those around him feel welcome. He will be remembered for his dedication to the Sea Point community and his willingness to always lend a helping hand.”

Peter will be remembered as someone who generously gave his time to addressing the concerns of many residents in Sea Point.

Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who knew him.
