From Parow to Harvard. 🩵🤍🖤
Lukusa Tshizubu matriculated from Parow High School at the end of 2024 after a high school career defined by grit, determination, resilience and outstanding academic achievement.
Despite facing many challenges along the way, he never lost sight of his goal, and his hard work was rewarded with a full bursary to study at Harvard University.
To help make this opportunity possible, a BackaBuddy campaign raised R50 000 towards his visa and travel costs. Yet another hurdle remained…
Obtaining a visa proved to be a long and difficult process, and for more than a year Lukusa waited for an answer.
There were times when all struggled to remain hopeful. Then, on 20 August 2026, a message appeared on our WhatsApp group:
“Lukusa is going to Harvard” - a name we had chosen in faith long before it became reality.
Lukusa simply wrote:
“Hi. I got my visa. Next stop, Boston!”
What a moment that was.
Today, Lukusa is in the United States and has begun his journey at Harvard University. We could not be prouder of him.
