It is with profound sadness that the Consular Corps of Cape Town announces the passing of Mr. Jesús Silva Fernández, former Consul General of Spain in Cape Town.

Mr. Silva was a highly respected diplomat who served his country with great distinction throughout a long and dedicated career.

Since taking up his post in Cape Town, he had been an active and esteemed member of the Consular Corps, admired for his professionalism, warmth, and commitment to strengthening the bonds between Spain and South Africa.

He will be remembered not only as an excellent diplomat, but also as a remarkable Consul General and a wonderful colleague and friend, whose kindness, integrity, and spirit enriched all who had the privilege of knowing him.

On behalf of all members of the Consular Corps of Cape Town, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Silva’s family, to the Government of the Kingdom of Spain, and to the staff of the Consulate General of Spain in Cape Town. We join them in mourning the loss of a valued colleague whose presence will be deeply missed.

May his memory be honoured, and may he rest in peace.
