Based in Cape Town, the WCPP is constitutionally mandated to pass legislation, provide a forum for public debate, involve the public in the law-making process, and oversee the activities of the provincial executive. The WCPP consists of 42 Members, elected every five years on a proportional representation system. The Premier and members of the provincial Cabinet are appointed from these Members.

Today, the Western Cape Provincial Parliament hosted students from the International Master’s in Diaconic Management programme at the University of Bielefeld, Germany, currently undertaking field research in Cape Town through Stellenbosch University.

The group, representing Rwanda, Tanzania, Chile, the Philippines, Cameroon, Indonesia, Ghana, and South Africa, was addressed by Chief Whip Gillion Bosman, who engaged with the delegation and answered a range of robust questions during an insightful discussion.
