20 June 2026 (12:05) Electricity notice

Teams are attending to a number of area outages (affecting a few streets or an entire area) and planned maintenance. We apologise for the inconvenience.

The primary cause for area faults is typically damage from theft, vandalism and illegal connections.

The area outages list is updated as information becomes available and is not a reflection of all outages. If it is not on the list, it doesn't mean teams aren't aware of it.

Residents in Eskom-supply areas are encouraged to log requests with Eskom.

Council recently approved the City of Cape Town’s Traffic Calming Policy, a guideline to help assess and manage applications for traffic calming measures across the city.

The policy is aligned with the Comprehensive Integrated Transport Plan (CITP) and the Road Safety Strategy and aims to reduce road deaths and injuries by creating safer streets for everyone.

Key objectives of the policy include establishing a sustainable programme that:
✅ Protects the most vulnerable road users, especially where they are most at risk
✅ Recognises roadways as public assets meant for all users
✅ Addresses urgent road safety issues on residential streets as they arise

Thank you to all residents who contributed to the draft during the public participation process held in August and September 2025.

The City is bringing energy efficiency and climate action awareness directly into communities through vibrant new murals in Atlantis and Lansdowne as part of the Cape Town Future Energy Festival.

Created in collaboration with local residents and artists, the murals encourage practical actions towards sustainable living while reflecting each community’s unique experiences and vision for the future. More than public art, these projects empower residents to take ownership of clean energy, energy efficiency and climate-friendly solutions that benefit neighbourhoods for generations to come.

Cape Town’s most iconic landmark is getting a brighter, smarter and greener future.

The City of Cape Town is nearing completion of a major energy efficiency upgrade at DHL Stadium, replacing ageing floodlights with cutting-edge LED technology. Already, 360 floodlights have been upgraded, reducing their electricity demand by up to 50% and delivering meaningful savings for residents.

The transformation goes beyond energy efficiency. With approximately 1 500 individually controlled lights across the stadium’s floodlights, roof and façade, DHL Stadium is now capable of spectacular full-colour displays synchronised to music, creating unforgettable experiences for major events, concerts and celebrations.

The stadium’s new floodlight system has also achieved FIFA Quality Pro certification, the highest global standard for stadium lighting, placing Cape Town among the world’s leading sporting venues.

DHL Stadium is set to shine brighter, smarter and more sustainably than ever before – a beacon for Cape Town’s future.
