It was an honour to have our Integrated Wildfire Management Unit facilitate today’s multi-agency response exercise in SANParks - Table Mountain National Park. What a great opportunity to offer our knowledge and expertise alongside so many dedicated partners in the wildfire management industry. Collaborative training like this ensures we are all better prepared to respond swiftly and keep our communities and natural heritage safe.

NCC-Group is seeking a Squad Leader for a fixed-term contract across various operational bases in the Western Cape. This role is focused on leading a specialised ground crew of firefighters on and off the fire line, ensuring the delivery of a professional wildland firefighting service.

In this role, you will ensure crew readiness and resource availability, establish chains of command, and oversee assigned personnel's safety, welfare, and performance. You will gather situational information, coordinate tactical operations with adjoining resources, manage demobilisation, and ensure all HR policies and project documentation are properly maintained.

What we’re looking for:

- Certifications & Training: ICS 100, ICS 200, RT130 Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher, and Helitack Training.

- Experience: Satisfactory past performance as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1).

- Physical Fitness & Health: High level of fitness and good health. Candidates must pass the arduous physical test (Pack test: 4.8 km walk with a 20 kg pack in under 45 minutes) and hold police clearance.

- Driving & Mobility: Valid South African Driver's License with a Public Driving Permit (PrDP). Must be highly mobile for deployment across the country and internationally, and reside close to operational areas.

Requirements: Available for standby shifts and fully aligned with NCC Group’s Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Substance Use Policy.

Skills: Strong leadership, relationship-building, and basic Microsoft Office administrative skills, with the flexibility to adapt quickly under high-pressure, fast-changing conditions.

NCC-Group is seeking two (2) Fire Truck Drivers (Engine Boss) for a fixed-term contract (October 2026 – September 2027). Stationed across various operational bases in the Western Cape (including Table Mountain National Park), this role is focused on driving specialized wildland firefighting vehicles and operating equipment during emergency incidents.

In this role, you will perform active firefighting duties, safely transport crews to and from fire sites, and maintain strict radio communication with Dispatch and the Fire Boss. You will also oversee the professional handling and maintenance of specialised vehicles, complete daily checklists and logbooks, execute fire prevention tasks, and participate in regular team fitness activities.

What we’re looking for:

Licence & Driving: Minimum Code C1 driver’s licence (Code 10) with a valid PrDP and a clean driving record (Code C / Code 11 with PrDP preferred).
Excellent knowledge of the Cape Town area is required.

Requirements: Clear criminal record, high level of physical fitness and good health, and full compliance with NCC Group’s Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Substance Use Policy.

Availability: Must be flexible to respond to emergencies, work shifts, complete 45 working hours per week, work extra hours on short notice, and remain on standby at fire bases for prolonged periods.

Assessments: Shortlisted candidates must pass a Physical Fitness Assessment, Driving Assessment, Medical Fitness Assessment, and Criminal Record Check.

Skills: Strong teamwork skills, resilience under pressure in high-stress environments, and the flexibility to adapt quickly to fast-changing tactical situations.

NCC-Group is seeking ten (10) Environmental Technicians for a 12-month freelance contract based in Cape Town. This entry-level role is focused on providing ad hoc environmental compliance monitoring for short-term film and events projects, with full support and guidance provided.

In this role, you will advise clients in line with South African Environmental Legislation, assist with drafting film and event EMPs/Method Statements, and monitor on-site project activities against permit conditions. You will also conduct audits, attend client meetings, and compile daily, weekly, or monthly compliance reports as required by operational needs.

What we’re looking for:

Qualifications: Diploma or Degree in Nature Conservation, Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.

Location: Must reside within a 40 km radius of Cape Town.

Transport & Driving: Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport are essential (4x4 driving experience is advantageous).

Flexibility: Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and after-hours, on an ad hoc basis.

Skills: Fluent in English with strong report-writing capabilities, excellent time management, and the ability to work independently with diverse teams.

Client Focus: Highly developed communication and stakeholder focus to deal effectively with a diverse range of clients.

NCC-Group recently delivered our NIMS for Executives programme to the CapeNature Executive and Management Team at their Head Office.

When complex incidents occur, effective management relies on a unified strategy across all departments. We were immensely encouraged by the active participation from CapeNature’s leadership - including the CEO, Executive Directors, and heads of Operations, Finance, HR, Risk, Legal, Procurement, Ecotourism, and Marketing.

Bringing these critical roles together allowed us to delve into how the ( ) strengthens organisational resilience when managing environmental emergencies and large scale operations.
