WALKING WITH DIGNITY – 119 PAIRS OF SHOES DELIVERED!

Today was a day of pure inspiration, dignity, and deep gratitude at Brooklands Primary School! ❤️

We were incredibly honored to welcome our Deputy Mayor, Alderman Eddie Andrews, to our campus for the wonderful school shoes distribution initiative.

Thanks to this phenomenal project, a spectacular 119 pairs of brand-new school shoes were delivered straight into the hands—and onto the feet—of our learners today! 🎉

During the presentation, the Deputy Mayor spoke beautifully to our Brookies about how to turn passion into purpose. The core mission of this initiative is simple yet profound: to raise funds and provide quality school shoes for those who need them most. Because when we lift each other up, we all step forward together.

Our hearts melted watching the team interact with our children, kneeling down to help them lace up and fit into their new shoes. Seeing our learners stand tall, walking into their classrooms with newfound confidence and dignity, is exactly what community is all about.

A massive, heartfelt thank you to Deputy Mayor Eddie Andrews, the Soles for Souls team, and everyone involved in making this life-changing day possible. You have left an indelible footprint on our school! 👣

Who said learning fractions can't be absolutely delicious? 😋

Recently, Ms. Minnaar and Ms. Hector’s Grade 2 classes took a hands-on (and very tasty!) approach to mathematics. Instead of just looking at numbers on a board, our clever learners used real sandwiches to explore the concepts of halves and quarters! 🥪

The classroom was full of excitement as the children busy themselves making, cutting, and sharing their own creations. By physically dividing their sandwiches, a brand-new abstract math concept instantly became concrete, fun, and deeply meaningful.

We love seeing the fantastic teamwork and enthusiastic participation from our foundation phase learners. They proved that when you blend practical life skills with education, our Brookies truly thrive!

A huge well done to these teachers, and their amazing Grade 2s for 'Stepping Forward' with such a creative, engaging lesson! 👏

CHECKMATE! VICTORY FOR THE BROOKIE CHESS TEAM! 🏆

Our U13 Chess team proved that big strategic minds dwell right here at Brooklands Primary!

Yesterday, our brilliant players went head-to-head in an incredibly intense, nail-biting match against Kuilsriver Primary. It was a tight, tactical battle from the very first move, with both schools playing absolute masterclasses on the boards.

But our Brookies kept their composure, calculated their moves beautifully, and pulled off a spectacular 3,5 - 2,5 victory!

We are immensely proud of our players for their focus, sportsmanship, and outstanding dedication. You have represented our school with true excellence! 👏

Today marks the opening of Admissions Acceptances, and we know this can be an incredibly emotional and stressful day for many families.

As a primary school, we completely understand the hope, anxiety, and sometimes the disappointment that comes with this process, especially given the limited number of places available. We kindly ask for your patience, kindness, and understanding today as our administrative team works diligently through all communication.

Important Next Steps for Parents:
🔹Appeals: Please note that any and all appeals must be sent ONLY to [email protected]. We respectfully request that you do not copy or email other school staff members, as this can unfortunately delay our processing times.
🔹Acceptances: If your child has been offered a place at Brooklands Primary, we kindly ask that you accept or decline the offer as soon as possible. Prompt responses greatly assist us in managing our waiting list and offering peace of mind to other families who are waiting.

Lights, camera, ACTION! 🎬🍿

Ms. Buchholz’s Grade 5 English class traded their normal notebooks for the dramatic world of theatre! After diving deep into play structures and script-reading, our creative learners stepped into the spotlight to plan, write, and perform their very own original plays. 📝

The excitement in the classroom was electric as the groups worked together to uncover the mysteries hidden in each scene. But the real magic happened when it came time to perform!

Our Grade 5s didn't just read lines—they completely transformed into character. We had learners rocking hilarious wigs, a few of our brave boys throwing on dresses to nail their roles, and even a blanket tucked under a gown for a perfect pregnant belly silhouette! 🤰 Talk about commitment to the craft!

Through this hands-on project, our Brookies didn't just learn about dialogue and stage directions; they uncovered hidden talents for playwriting, directing, and acting. 🎭

At Brooklands, we love breaking out of the traditional mold to show our learners that education is alive, active, and incredibly fun. A massive well done to the Grade 5s for stepping up, stepping forward, and giving us an absolute show!

CODES, CLUBS, AND FUTURE TECH! 🤖💻

While our learners were enjoying their weekend, our dedicated teachers were busy leveling up their skills for the future!

This weekend, two of our fantastic educators attended the specialized STEAMMAC training, proudly presented by the Cape Town Science Centre. 🔬📲

They dove headfirst into the digital world, working closely with the innovative micro:bit platform and exploring incredible new resources to make Coding and Robotics a reality both at school and at home.
The most exciting news? Thanks to this training, we have officially created Brooklands' very first Coding Club! 👩‍💻👨‍💻

At Brooklands, we are committed to ensuring our Brookies aren't just consumers of technology, but the creators and innovators of tomorrow. We are so proud of our staff for constantly 'Stepping Forward and Stepping Up' to bring the best possible modern education to our classrooms.
