Every Wednesday, we’re committing 20–30 minutes to pause and read.

That is the simple idea behind , a national movement led by YearBeyond to help build a stronger culture of reading across South Africa.

Reading habits are not developed in schools alone. They are nurtured in homes, after-school spaces, community hubs, workplaces, and everyday moments where children and young people are encouraged to read for enjoyment.

This is where After School Programmes (ASPs) play an important role.

Across communities, after-school spaces create opportunities for children and young people to build confidence, strengthen literacy skills, spark imagination, and develop a lifelong love of reading through trusted relationships and consistent support.

The Learning Trust is proud to support and encourages our network of partners, practitioners, and after-school programmes to join the movement in ways that are meaningful for their communities.

📚🇿🇦✨ YOUTH DAY 2026 | YOUTH IN ACTION: R1 BILLION IN MOTION ✨🇿🇦📚

We are proud and excited to announce that Loxion Mobile Library will be participating as a speaker and exhibitor at the youth@WORK Youth Day 2026 Celebration in Johannesburg! 🎉🙌

This opportunity means a lot to us because it speaks directly to the work we do every day with children, young people, and communities. ❤️

Youth Day reminds us of the brave students of 16 June 1976 who stood up for their rights and demanded a better future.

Their courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us as we work towards a South Africa where every child has access to books, education, and opportunity. 📖✊🏾

While June 16 reminds us of a difficult chapter in our history, it also reminds us how powerful young people are when they come together to create change. 🌍✨

Today, young people are leading organisations, creating jobs, building businesses, supporting communities, and finding innovative solutions to society's biggest challenges. 🚀💡

As Loxion Mobile Library, we are honoured to be part of this movement. From a bicycle carrying books through the streets of Vrygrond 🚲📚 to serving children and families across multiple communities, our journey is proof that when young people are supported, incredible things can happen. 🦒❤️

The theme "Youth in Action: R1 Billion in Motion" is a powerful reminder that investing in young people creates real impact, real opportunities, and real change. 💰➡️🌱

We look forward to sharing our story, learning from fellow changemakers, and celebrating the power of youth leadership.

New Chapter, Same Mission: We’ve Moved! 🚀New space, new energy, and the same mission to empower our community!

📚✨We are officially on Day 8 in our beautiful new home. The journey to get here from moving bookshelves on the back of a bakkie to transforming empty rooms into vibrant learning zones, has been a true testament to the power of our team and community coming together.

🚛🛠️We’ve watched our space evolve from a blank canvas into a hub of activity: Young people leading computer sessions and after-school support.

💻🧑‍🏫🏫 Children finding joy in play and reading during our park sessions. 📖🌳 Our team working tirelessly to ensure this environment is safe, welcoming, and inspiring for every learner.

❤️🛡️️ To our incredible partners and supporters: Thank you for walking this path with us. 🙏 To our parents: Your trust and support have been our foundation. We are just getting started! 🌟Stay tuned, we have so much more planned, including our upcoming celebrations for June 16.

📚☀️ LOXION MOBILE LIBRARY BOOK STORE ☀️📚

An entrepreneurial journey rooted in literacy, community, and social impact ❤️

At Loxion Mobile Library, we understand that many people want to become responsible citizens and contribute positively to society, even in different ways.

Some people volunteer their time 🤝🏾
Some support community programmes 📖
Some donate books 📚
And others support by simply buying a book from our bookstore 💛

To us, all of these contributions matter because they help sustain a broader vision for stronger, educated, and empowered communities.

That is why every Sunday we open our Loxion Mobile Library Book Store at the 🌅 Sunrise Flea Market in Cape Town, creating a space where literacy, entrepreneurship, and community development come together.

The response so far has been incredible, and we are grateful for everyone who continues to support the journey. From children’s books to inspiring reads and educational resources, we have something for everyone 📚✨

This transition marks a beautiful new beginning for our team, our children, and our community.

We are grateful for the growth, the journey, and the opportunity to continue building safe, creative, and inspiring learning spaces for young people 🌱✨

🌱✨ Learning, Connecting and Growing at Philippi Village ✨🌱

This morning, Team Loxion Mobile Library had the opportunity to visit the inspiring , truly one of the most impactful and innovative spaces within our township communities ❤️🏘️

Our visit focused on learning more about how we can make our environments greener, more natural, and more community-driven through sustainable practices and shared learning 🌍🌿

The workshop was incredibly meaningful, and beyond the learning, we also had the opportunity to build new connections with surrounding communities and changemakers doing important work across the township ecosystem 🤝🏾✨

It was also amazing reconnecting with Unity Bridge from the area, who are part of Learning Trust Western Cape Consortium, represented by the amazing Nonnie Sam 🌱📚

Thank you to the Philippi Village Green Team for creating such a thoughtful and empowering experience for all of us.

Spaces like these remind us how important collaboration, environmental awareness, and community leadership are for shaping stronger futures 🌿💚

📚✨ Choosing Peace, Protecting Childhoods ✨📚

As we come to the end of May, we reflect on a month that has been both meaningful and challenging for our communities.

🌧️ The weather has reminded us that winter is approaching strongly across many of our regions, and for many children and families, this season can become difficult and uncertain.

At the same time, we continue to witness growing tension, division, and conflict within our communities, moments that create fear, instability, and an unsafe environment for many young people.

🧒🏾📖 At Loxion Mobile Library, we believe children deserve communities filled with peace, learning, safety, compassion, and opportunity. Now more than ever, South Africa needs unity, understanding, and collective action.

We must choose dialogue over violence, humanity over division, and community over conflict.

🤝🏾 The future of our townships, our children, and our country depends on our ability to work together, uplift one another, and continue building spaces of hope, education, and belonging.

🌍 As the world continues to change, we are reminded that strong communities are built through care, literacy, leadership, and solidarity.
