Active Movement for Change welcomes the resignation of Mr Jacob Zuma as president of the Republic of South Africa. It is our considered opinion that his departure is long overdue. The South African public deserves better and as we press on to the 2019 general elections let us remember the 9 motions of no confidence that failed previously because the ANC protected him and showed many times that they are tolerant of the corruption he was involved in. May we remember all the sleepless nights he gave us as the citizens of this beautiful country when he repeatedly lied in parliament about the upgrades to his Nkandla homestead and when he openly defied the constitution of the land and subsequently had to be ordered by the Constitutional Court to repay the money. Let us always remember those who worked alongside him to cover up all the rot that was very obvious to everyone except to them. Let us push forth in 2019 to elect a party that will advance the values that will ensure the collective success of every member of our society. Vote for a leadership that is committed to ethics and that will place the interests of South Africa before those of a political party.

One of our founding pillars as Active Movement for Change was to reawaken a consciousness and interest among the young people in South Africa and beyond of the political discourse and the complex political environments in their communities and the country at large so as to develop a sense of responsibility in shaping a desirable future for our nation. We are now living in the most pivotal moments in the history of our democratic dispensation, a moment that is expected to produce drastic shifts and changes to the face of a South Africa that was once conceived and envisioned by those who went before us. The demand for young people to start taking their place in the affairs of the country is growing by the day and our commitment to building a platform that will allow the realization of that dream still remains intact.

Regardless of all the controversies surrounding this year's State of the Nation Address it is still imperative that all progressive citizens of this country continue reflecting about the true state of our country and enrich the debate with more substantive plans of action that will actually be implemented to bring about a positive turn of events in our beloved South Africa. Too much politicking and no action has killed many promising democracies and caused many to lose confidence in their countries. We ought to learn from the experiences of others and do better ourselves.
