Speaker Supports Boys Den Mini Camp Initiative in Bothaville

The Speaker of Council, Hon. Cllr. Molatudi Mothibi, honoured an invitation from AGFS Bothaville to participate in the Boys Den Mini Camp held on Friday, 17 April 2026.

Held under the slogan “Boyhood Matters,” the initiative created a safe and meaningful space for young boys between the ages of 9 and 14 to engage on issues that are often overlooked. While much attention is often placed on the development of the girl child, this programme sought to ensure that boys are equally supported and guided.

The mini camp focused on four key pillars: Identity, Emotion, Self-Esteem, and Purpose. Through open discussions and interactive activities, men from the community engaged with the boys, providing guidance, mentorship and encouragement.

The programme also highlighted the importance of positive male role models, especially for children who may not have father figures. The presence of community leaders and stakeholders served as a reminder that there are men within the community who are committed to supporting and guiding the next generation.

🎓 2026 Career Expo – A Successful Engagement

The Office of the Speaker, in collaboration with Batjha Kopanang, a local NGO focusing on youth social issues and empowerment, successfully hosted the Career Expo at Mamellang Thuto Secondary School Hall.

A total of five high schools were in attendance, namely: Mamellang Thuto Secondary School, Mophate Secondary School, Oziel Selele Comprehensive School, Diphetoho Secondary School, and Boovaal Agricultural School.

Higher education institutions including Goldfields TVET College, Motheo TVET College, Rosebank College, and Maluti TVET College were present and provided learners with valuable information on various career paths and study opportunities.

Key stakeholders such as the IEC, Department of Home Affairs, and SAPS also participated, offering important guidance and support to learners.

The Speaker of Council, Hon. Cllr. Molatudi Mothibi, delivered a warm yet impactful opening address, emphasising the importance of discipline and hard work, and reminding learners that they are the future of Nala Local Municipality.

Mr Molutsi, an educator at Oziel Selele Comprehensive School and Regional Deputy Chairperson of SADTU, encouraged learners by highlighting that “fear limits the potential of a human being” and that education remains a powerful tool to unlock opportunities. He further reminded learners to value and respect their teachers as they would their parents.

Sergeant Kenosi from SAPS Bothaville addressed social challenges affecting young people, cautioning against behaviours that may lead to criminal records and limit future opportunities. He encouraged learners to remain focused and reminded them that giving up is not an option.

Motivational speaker, Mr Dithebe, an educator at Hlaboloha Public School and Regional Secretary of SADTU, motivated learners to remain committed to their studies, especially in challenging subjects, and to choose careers aligned with their strengths and interests. He emphasised that one’s background does not define their future.

The Office of the Speaker extends its sincere appreciation to all stakeholders, partners and participants who contributed towards making this event a success.
