The 16 Days of Activism campaign (25 November – 10 December)
As South Africa marks the final day of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children. The Trauma Centre made an impact by conducting awareness campaigns in the following locations:
Community education in Extension 7 Movhango – The community was educated on digital violence and the 2025 theme, _“Unite to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls,”_ with a particular focus on youth.
Vanderbijlpark CBD – Community members were educated about digital violence and gender‑based violence.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities – The event was celebrated at The Rock in Polokong , where issues affecting persons with disabilities were discussed.
World AIDS Day– a commemoration was held at Johan Deo and Bophelong Clinic to honour World AIDS Day by conducting candle light.
We enhanced our public awareness campaign through Sedibeng FM, where the issue of digital violence was extensively examined in the context of combating HIV/AIDS and gender-based violence, emphasizing an unbiased approach to the challenges of the epidemic.
Subsequently, we executed a targeted outreach programme for adolescent girls, delivering comprehensive education on femicide, gender-based violence, and digital violence, while empowering them with strategies for self-protection to prevent victimisation.
In addition, we distributed sanitary pads to the participants, thereby fostering dignity and promoting gender equality. This initiative reinforced the principle that girls’ and women’s health is a collective societal responsibility, not a private matter.
