As Africa's gambling sector grows at an unprecedented pace, so too must our commitment to protecting the communities we serve.
That's why the Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority (FSGLTA) firmly stands behind the inaugural Africa Safer Gambling Week, running 7–11 September 2026, a continent-wide initiative by the African iGaming Alliance (AiA), bringing together regulators, industry associations and stakeholders under one banner: .

Through our partnership with the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF), FSGLTA remains committed to educating Free State residents on responsible gambling and ensuring treatment and support programmes stay accessible.
We call on all stakeholders, regulators, licensees, operators and communities to join us in building a safer, more sustainable gambling environment.

Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT), in partnership with the Department of Treasury, Women’s Day celebration held at Phillip Sanders Resort.

The celebration commemorated the 70th anniversary of the historic 1956 Women’s March under the theme “Empower Women, Empower Nations.”

The day placed a strong focus on women’s wellbeing and access to quality healthcare as important foundations for sustainable development, social justice and economic growth.

Addressing women officials, MEC Ketso Makume encouraged women to support and uplift one another, reminding them that “behind every woman is a successful woman.” He further encouraged women to prioritise their wellbeing, use social media as a tool for information and education, embrace education, and continue playing their vital role as custodians of families.

As part of the programme, FSGLTA engaged with women officials on the importance of responsible gambling and the responsible use of alcohol, highlighting the need for informed choices and responsible behaviour.

When we empower women, we strengthen families, communities and nations.
