With more than 100 exhibitors participating, this magnificent event was held under the theme "Launching Tourism Month through heritage, and Local Economic Development".

The EXPO served as a platform to showcase the rich heritage of Ngwathe, tourism investment opportunities, and the potential of local enterprises in driving Economic growth and job creation.

Today, the Department of Economic Development and Tourism together with Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO), W&R SETA, Coca Cola, SEDFA, and the National Department of Small Business Development, Metsimaholo Local Municipality and DEDT Consumer Protection Unit unite to boost Local economies by urging Spaza Shop and Tarven owners from Fezile Dabi to prioritize regulatory compliance, strict safety and health protocols, business formalization and access to available funding and supplier opportunities to build sustainable, legal and thriving businesses.

In his address, MEC Makume said the initiative aims to strengthen the township and rural economy and support and guide local traders toward full compliance. Assist business owners through the process of registration and formalization

"Transitioning into a formal economy allows owners to unlock critical state and private support, business opportunities, and secure legal trading permits, and shield themselves from avoidable regulatory penalties," said MEC Makume.
