This is in preparation for the 2026 Local Government Elections Registration Weekend of 20 - 21June 2026 to ensure that eligible voters register to participate in the 202 Local Government Elections.

The Congress Of South African Students (COSAS) will convene in Bloemfontein for its Local Government Elections Lekgotla. The Lekgotla is designed as a high-level educational seminar to sharpen the organizational capacity of our lower structures with its pillars being to unpack the constitutional mandate of local government with a specific focus on Metropolitan municipalities in service delivery, a technical briefing on the IEC operational procedures including voter registration and the integrity of the ballot and lastly to formulate a strategy to ensure high youth turnout and informed voting in our municipalities.
