The African National Congress Ward 23: Basil February Branch welcomes the decision by the Honourable President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa for his appointment in the 7th Administration, particularly the inclusion in the cabinet Cde Seiso Mohai and Maggie Sotyu from the Free State Province. The inclusion of the two and the youth in ministerial positions demonstrates the commitment of the ANC in ensuring stability and sustainability in the administration. We welcome the new crop that is full of energy and determination to take South Africa forward.
The Cde Seiso Mohai is a tried and tested volunteer of the movement who has always displayed discipline and commitment to serve the people and the organization with excellence, he brings vast knowledge, experience, and wisdom to the cabinet, having served in numerous positions as the MEC in the Free State and Free State Legislature since the early 90’s. The President-Elect of the Republic of South Africa his Excellency, President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa has indeed made a right choice when he indicated that “The incoming government will prioritise rapid, inclusive and sustainable economic growth and the creation of a more just society by tackling poverty and inequality” this is demonstrated through the inclusion of Cde Seiso Mohai and the youth in the cabinet.
The ANC is also encouraged by the fact that all political parties in Parliament pledged their support to work with the President and the Executive appointed in the interest of the people of South Africa.
The ANC also congratulates the top 100 unsung heroes’ nominees from the Sunday World, Cde Bonolo Thebe under the category of business and entrepreneurship and Cde Katleho Lechoo under the category of academia and education. The nomination and recognition of the two reflects on their commitment and dedication they have invested in building a capable state and to service their communities. As we close the Youth Month, we pride ourselves with them for their continued dedication and putting the branch and the Free State on the map.
As wisdom tells us, life evolves with each era of human existence, presenting new opportunities mixed with challenges, all of which complement people’s human experience, and this is demonstrated by these two young lions who are doing exceptionally well in their careers. We congratulate and wish them well with their future endeavours.
We equally thank the people of South Africa who participated in our 7th democratic national elections and voted for the African National Congress. We recommit ourselves to use the mandate we have been given by the electorate to govern responsibly and in the best interest of the people. As we enter the 7th Administration, we pledge to work together with all sectors, stakeholders, civil society, and society at large to grow South Africa together under the Government of National Unity (GNU).
The ANC Ward 23 fully hopes that the 7th administration will be characterised by robust debates and respect for the decorum of the House in the National Assembly and respectively in the Free State Legislature. We pledge our commitment to support the Free State Premier-Elect Cde Maqueen Letsoha Mathae, the Free State EXCO at large and we are hopeful for the inclusion of the youth in the space and positions of responsibilities. We equally pledge our support to the only included youth representative, Cde Zama Sigwebela (35) as the Member of the Free State Legislature and we are confident that he will execute his responsibilities diligently and be ethical in the office he holds.
We call to action for all our deployed cadres to put their collective hands-on deck to implement the ANC Manifesto which is premised on effective governance, efficiency, service delivery and inclusive growth as well as a corruption free government that upholds the rule of law.
