SANCA hosted an awareness session in the Amathole/BCM districts shining a vital spotlight on substance abuse and its impact in the workplace and communities.

SANCA (South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence) is a leading non-profit organisation dedicated to combating substance abuse, and the session equipped district employees with knowledge, tools, and support to better understand and address these challenges.

Organised by the Employees Health and Wellness Unit, the initiative encourages open conversations, reduces stigma, and promotes healthier choices for all employees.

The Department is proud to be part of the Contractor Development Outreach Roadshow, an important platform aimed at empowering emerging contractors and strengthening the construction industry.

As highlighted in the guideline, the construction sector plays a critical role in shaping infrastructure and driving economic development, while also creating opportunities for new and growing enterprises.

Our team is actively participating in the programme, where we have set up an exhibition stall to engage directly with stakeholders, share information, and provide support to contractors seeking to grow sustainable businesses.

The programme was further strengthened by the address delivered by MEC Siphokazi Lusithi, who emphasised government’s commitment to contractor development, compliance, and unlocking opportunities within the sector.

Through initiatives like these, the Department continues to support capacity building, promote industry compliance, and contribute towards a thriving, inclusive construction economy.

Visit our exhibition stall to learn more about the support services available and how you can be part of building South Africa’s future.
