While we often talk about the need for donations and support, today we just want to pause and appreciate the incredible help we receive.❤️

What a wonderful day at Bambelela! Today, we were joined by an amazing group of vet students for day volunteering. From cleaning enclosures and preparing meals to feeding the monkeys and tidying around - their dedication made such a difference.

This is what keeps us going—your support and kindness make everything possible. Thank you all!❤️🌳🐒

Then vs Now: Zig 💚

From tiny orphan to wild-hearted adventurer. 🐒🤍

Zig arrived in Stage 1 frightened, fragile, and needing constant care. Today, in Stage 3 of rehabilitation, he’s stronger, more confident, and learning the skills he needs for a future back where he belongs.

Every stage tells a story of resilience, second chances, and the power of rehabilitation. Watching babies like Zig grow is why we do what we do at Bambelela. 🌿✨

Today at Bambelela, the Avengers Troop sounded the alarm before we even spotted the danger ourselves. 🐒⚠️
The monkeys became alert and vocal — a clear snake warning echoing through the enclosure. Thanks to their sharp instincts, our team immediately jumped into action to investigate and ensure everyone’s safety.

After carefully locating the snake, the team safely removed it from the enclosure while keeping both the monkeys and the snake unharmed. Moments like these remind us just how intelligent and aware these animals are, always looking out for one another. 💚🐍

🐍 Snake information:
Southern African Python (Python natalensis)

The Southern African Python is a large snake reaching a maximum length of around 5.5 m and weighing around 65 kg. It feeds largely on warm-blooded prey like small antelope, monkeys, game birds and dassies, but also takes leguaans and even crocodiles. Attacks on humans are rare and fatalities virtually unheard of.

This snake is largely active at night, but it is fond of basking during the day. It is at home in water and can remain submerged for long periods. Females produce 30 – 60 (but up to 100) eggs, which are roughly the size of a tennis ball. The female remains with her eggs throughout incubation and the young measure 50 – 70 cm in length.
