The Joe Gqabi District Municipality is a Category C municipality located within the Eastern Cape. It borders the Free State Province and country of Lesotho to the North. The Municipality covers the area of Walter Sisulu ,Senqu, and Elundini Municipalities

Cllr Luthando Ndakisa representing the Executive Mayor Nomvuyo Mposelwa welcomed the second group of 99 Retamar College students from Madrid, Spain.

Finishing where the previous workcamp left off. They will continue to complete the works of a 3 bedroom home, ablution blocks, kitchen renovations, new painting of the main foster care centre and painting of new roof and gutters at Khaya Lokhanyo

The team has already painted 12 community homes.

SALGA facilitated the gathering of Women's Caucas structures of all 3 local municipalities under the leadership of Cllr Nomvuyo Mposelwa as the Provincial Women's Caucus Commissioner to appoint the district Women's Caucas Commissioner.

Joe Gqabi District Municipality would like to congratulate councillor Unathi Hokwana-Hlathuka as the newly elected District Women's Caucas Commissioner.

Joe Gqabi District Municipality Supply Chain Unit together with Office of the Premier facilitated an information sharing session day for contractors, service providers and suppliers of Joe Gqabi at the Municipal Offices in Barkly East.

Presentations were done by officials from CIDB, SARS and the Provincial Treasury.
