The EFFYC has managed to fight the YBM LED CSRC from stealing students food parcels for their own one meal à day program. We are happy to announce that the Vice Chancellor has confirmed to students directly that food parcels will be distributed. Packaging will commence as from immediately. Thank you to all students who have supported us in the process.

[IN PICTURES] 🚨🚨🚨

The EFFYC Branch leadership led by fighter Ndiphiwe Peter Alice branch convener and Nangamso Msongelwa branch coordinator have decided to write to the office of the Excutive Director of Student Affairs alerting him and his colleagues about what students wants in terms of the food parcels that were expected to be distributed in Alice yesterday.

We have informed his office about the subotage done by the YBMM Deployees to decide for students without consulting them or rather enforcing decisions that are against the Will of students. We are then giving him 24hrs to reply failure to do so we are excalating the matter into VC office. We are prepared to fight this injustice using all the possibilities that we have. We urge students not to succumb we must be united against this injustice.

Indeed EFFYC is the only vengurd student movement that prioritises students interests.

Indeed the EFFYC remains the only radical student movement that seeks to prioritise students issues.

Incase you have missed it, the EFFYC has managed to secure food parcels for unfunded students through the office of the student services “Thembi Sizani”. We are pleased to announce to students that indeed the parcels were purchased and will be delivered to Alice before the end of the day, for the purpose of packing and distributing them out to deserving students.

All qualifying students will be alerted as to when to collect and how after their list of names have been verified. Indeed history has been made, the EFFYC has delivered.

For immediate release;

The EFFYC Alice Branch is pleased to inform students that the food parcels have indeed been brought out and have arrived in East London as of this morning. The parcels will be transported to Alice, where they will be packed and prepared for distribution by the end of today, with distribution expected to commence tomorrow.

We therefore call upon all students who qualify to remain alert and await further communication regarding the distribution process.

We must, however, raise our concern over attempts by certain individuals, including YBM SRC Deployees, to undermine the efforts made by the Office of the Student Services Officer to ensure that unfunded students receive these food parcels.

There are attempts to push for these food parcels to be reduced to a “one meal a day” arrangement, on the basis that some individuals themselves are accustomed to surviving on one meal a day. We firmly reject this approach. These food parcels were secured to provide meaningful relief to unfunded students facing food insecurity, not to normalise hunger or impose unnecessary limitations on students who are already struggling.

We call upon students not to allow themselves to be manipulated into accepting or promoting such harmful practices. Students must remain vigilant and protect initiatives that are genuinely intended to restore their dignity and provide support where it is most needed.

The food parcels belong to the students who qualify. Let us protect the initiative and ensure that it reaches its intended beneficiaries.

For immediate release;

The EFFYC proudly welcomes and supports the initiative launched by the EFFYC-led SRC to provide food parcels to unfunded students. This initiative follows the successful Sanitary Drive and Towel Distribution Programme implemented during the first semester, demonstrating our continued commitment to restoring the dignity of students who are excluded and financially burdened.

These initiatives are not acts of charity; they are interventions aimed at restoring student dignity, ensuring food security and providing practical support to students who continue to face financial hardships.

We are therefore deeply concerned about attempts to sabotage this initiative, particularly allegations of efforts by YBM deployees to steal food parcels intended for unfunded students. We strongly distance ourselves from such conduct and condemn any attempt to deprive students of assistance that is rightfully intended for them.

The food-parcel programme is a more convenient and dignified intervention because it benefits students regardless of where they reside. Unlike a system that provides only one meal a day, food parcels allow students to have food available for multiple meals throughout the day, at their own convenience. This is particularly important for students residing off campus who may not have easy access to campus dining facilities.

The EFFYC remains committed to initiatives that put the interests of students first. We call upon all student structures and individuals to protect these programmes from sabotage and ensure that every intended beneficiary receives what has been allocated to them.
