Join ProCare EMS in Raising Awareness After World Hypertension Day!

We just had World Hypertension Day on Friday, May 17th, and itโ€™s the perfect time to remind everyone about the importance of managing high blood pressure. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, affects 1 in 3 adults worldwide and is often called the silent killer because it can go unnoticed until serious health issues arise. ProCare EMS is dedicated to spreading awareness and promoting heart health in our community. ๐Ÿ’–

Here are some essential facts and tips to keep your blood pressure in check:

๐Ÿ” Know Your Numbers: Regularly check your blood pressure to stay informed about your health status. Optimal blood pressure is below 120/80 mmHg.

๐Ÿฅ— Eat Healthily: Incorporate a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Limit salt, sugar, and saturated fats.

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Stay Active: Engage in regular physical activity. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week.

Avoid To***co: Smoking raises your blood pressure and puts you at higher risk for heart disease. Seek support to quit if you need it.

๐Ÿท Limit Alcohol: Drink in moderation. Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to higher blood pressure.

๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ Manage Stress: Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga to reduce stress levels.

Remember, hypertension can be managed and prevented with the right lifestyle changes and medical care. Letโ€™s work together to create a healthier, heart-strong community!

Stay informed, stay healthy, and take control of your blood pressure.

๐Ÿšจ Urgent Medical Awareness Announcement! ๐Ÿšจ

Attention, everyone! ProCare EMS is issuing a crucial health alert to raise awareness about a recent outbreak of measles and mumps in our community. We have noticed a significant increase in patients exhibiting symptoms associated with measles, mumps, as well as a small number of COVID-19 cases. Your safety and well-being are our top priority, and we want to ensure you stay informed and take the necessary precautions.

Measles, a highly contagious viral infection, can spread rapidly among individuals who are not immune. It is characterized by fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, red eyes, and a distinct rash. Mumps, on the other hand, is a viral illness that primarily affects the salivary glands, causing swelling and tenderness around the jawline and ears. Both measles and mumps can result in serious complications if left untreated.

If you or anyone you know experiences symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, red eyes, a rash, or swelling around the jawline and ears, it is crucial to seek medical attention immediately and mention your potential exposure to measles and mumps.

We would also like to inform you that the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has issued an alert regarding the measles outbreak on March 9, 2023, and the confirmation of the mumps outbreak on May 11, 2023. You can find more information on these outbreaks on the NICD website:

Measles Outbreak Update - NICD: [https://www.nicd.ac.za/south-african-measles-outbreak-update-2023-9-march/](https://www.nicd.ac.za/south-african-measles-outbreak-update-2023-9-march/)

Confirmation of Mumps Outbreak - NICD: [https://www.nicd.ac.za/confirmation-of-mumps-outbreak-south-africa-11-may-2023/](https://www.nicd.ac.za/confirmation-of-mumps-outbreak-south-africa-11-may-2023/)

Additionally, we have also identified a small number of COVID-19 cases in our region. As the pandemic continues, we must remain vigilant in our efforts to prevent the spread of the virus. Remember to practice good hand hygiene, wear masks in crowded settings, and maintain physical distance whenever possible. Vaccination against COVID-19 remains the most effective way to protect yourself and those around you.

ProCare EMS is working diligently to provide the best care and support during these challenging times. Our dedicated medical professionals are prepared to respond promptly and efficiently to any medical emergencies or concerns you may have.

Stay informed, stay safe, and take care of your health. Together, we can overcome these challenges and protect our community. Let's work hand in hand to prevent the spread of measles, mumps, and COVID-19.
