In recognition of October as Promotora Month, I was proud to honor Visión y Compromiso at today’s Riverside County Board of Supervisors meeting for its dedication to improving the health and well-being of our communities.

Since 2000, the organization has built a network of more than 4,000 promotoras, community health workers, and grassroots leaders who connect families with essential healthcare services and resources.

Having worked alongside promotoras throughout my career, I have witnessed firsthand their tremendous impact, especially among our farmworker families and underserved communities.

Thank you for your leadership, compassion, and service. ¡Muchísimas gracias por todo lo que hacen!

What an incredible turnout for Raising the Future! 🙌

We had record attendance at today’s event, and I could truly feel the positive energy and excitement from all of the students and young people who came ready to learn, connect and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.

As someone who grew up here in the Coachella Valley, I know how important it is for our young people to have mentors, resources and people in their corner who believe in their potential and are willing to open doors.

A huge thank you to all of the vendors, mentors, educators, community organizations and community members who came out to support our youth and families. And a special thank you to Ramon Ramos, The Exception, the CBO Alliance, Riverside County Office of Education, our County partners and everyone who helped make this event possible.

Our young people are not just our future — they are our present. When we invest in them, we invest in the future of our entire community.

Together, we are raising expectations, creating opportunities and Raising the Future!💪

Tonight, I joined TruEvolution to present the Community Legacy Award to DAP Health, recognizing more than four decades of compassionate healthcare, advocacy and service to our communities.

This recognition was especially meaningful as I had the opportunity to celebrate alongside Corina Simerson, someone I’ve known since she was a teenager growing up in Coachella. It has been wonderful to watch her grow into the respected healthcare leader she is today and to work alongside her over the years to expand access to healthcare and essential services throughout our region.

Congratulations to Corina and the entire DAP Health team on this well-deserved recognition and the legacy you continue to build! 👏

It was an honor to welcome promotoras and community health workers from across the country to the Coachella Valley for Visión y Compromiso’s 24th Annual Conference in Palm Springs!

Having worked alongside promotoras throughout my career, I know firsthand the vital role they play in connecting underserved communities with healthcare, education and essential resources.

This year's theme, Our Unity Is Power, Our Love Is Hope, reminds us that when we work together and lead with compassion, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of our families and communities.

Thank you to Visión y Compromiso and all the promotoras and community health workers for your unwavering dedication and service. ¡Gracias por servir de corazón!
