Another highlight has been my ability to be a voice for Michigan’s agricultural industry. Farmers are hardworking individuals; I was excited to educate the general public on the uniqueness and importance of Michigan’s commodities. Creating 23 “Grown in Michigan with Julie Alexander” (GIMJA) videos allowed me to travel the state, meet many interesting individuals and educate the public on Michigan’s robust agricultural industry. This series has reached over 200,000 views.

As this chapter of my professional career comes to a close, I wanted to let you know that I am eternally grateful for the faith you placed in me and the opportunity to serve our Jackson community and our great state of Michigan.

I encourage you to connect with your new Representative, as we move into a new term in 2023. You will be able to find your new Representative by using the “Find Your State Representative" tool linked below:

I recently presented my final State Tribute to George Zieman recognizing his 30 years of service to the Hanover Township Fire Department. As a third generation firefighter, George started his service to our community at the age of 18.

What was most meaningful to me in this final presentation is that I had George in my classroom back in the ‘80s. I was 21 when I started teaching and George was 10 years old.

What an honor to recognize someone that serves as we both close this chapter of our lives.

The holidays are filled with many traditions; participating in Wreaths Across America is one of my favorites. Placing a wreath on a veteran’s grave, saying their name aloud then thanking them for their service is a tradition that took place in over 2700 communities around the world yesterday.

May these heroes’ memories never be forgotten and sacrifices not be in vain.
