We have just been informed by Fortis that there will be a power outage in the area surrounding the Oilfield Regional Arena, 611 3rd st SW, between 10-11 am.

We are unsure how many houses will be affected; however, we know that the Arena, Curling Rink, and Schools will be affected for that hour.

The Oath of Office Ceremony for the new Town of Diamond Valley Council will take place on Monday, January 9 at 7pm at the Turner Valley Legion. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.

There will be appetizers and beverages available to purchase beginning at 6:30pm.

Curbside Recycling for Christmas trees begins on January 2. Leave your UNDECORATED tree curbside, and Town crews will take them away for composting.

This service will be provided until January 31, 2023.

The countdown is on until the big New Years Celebration and the official joining of Town of Diamond Valley. Remember to start following our new page, Town of Diamond Valley, to keep up to date with all the progress in the New Year.

Celebrating New Year's Eve will be extra special for the towns of Black Diamond and Turner Valley, as we officially amalgamate to become the new Town of Diamond Valley as of midnight on January 1.

A fun evening of free activities is planned between 5-8pm, including horse-drawn hay wagon rides, face painting, skating on the outdoor rink, musical entertainment and complimentary snacks, including popcorn, hotdogs, and hot chocolate.

Spectacular fireworks at 8pm to cap off the first part of the event.

At 8pm, the party changes to a family-friendly Games Night Gala hosted by the Diamond Valley Sustainable Living Centre (DVSLC). The Gala includes board games, "Minute to Win it” style games, and music and dancing.

We encourage attendees to wear formal attire, costumes, or masquerade masks, although dressing up is not required; come as you are!

Admission to the Gala will be by donation to the DVSLC. There will be food and beverages available for purchase.

We hope to see many friends and neighbours out on Saturday, December 31, as we embark on a new chapter in our community and have a ton of fun!
