Dear You (给阿嬷的情书) tells a story of family, migration and the lives of overseas Chinese who came to Thailand in search of a new beginning. Its themes may feel deeply personal, but they also belong to a much larger history shared by generations of Chinese families in Bangkok.
That history can still be found in Yaowarat—not only in temples, old shophouses and historic streets, but in the traces of everyday life: the food made for workers, the businesses built through years of saving, the letters and money once sent home, and the neighbourhoods shaped by people who arrived with little more than hope and determination.
So rather than following the film scene by scene, we invite you to walk through Bangkok Chinatown and discover places that reflect its stories from different angles—like fragments in a kaleidoscope. Each reveals a different memory, and together they form a picture of the Chinese immigrant experience that helped shape Yaowarat into what it is today.

Long before Sukhothai and Ayutthaya, Si Thep flourished as one of the most important ancient cities in what is now Thailand.
For centuries, cultures and beliefs arrived here, overlapped and evolved — from an early community to a great Dvaravati city, and later through Hindu and Mahayana Buddhist influences. In 2023, The Ancient Town of Si Thep and its Associated Dvaravati Monuments was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its exceptional testimony to the Dvaravati culture and its distinctive art and architecture.
Exploring Si Thep today is like piecing together a historical puzzle. What appears oldest may not be. Beneath one monument may lie traces of an earlier culture, while another reveals how beliefs changed over centuries. Each stop uncovers another layer of this remarkable lost city.

Khao Kho is the kind of place where the journey matters as much as the destination. Set among the mountains of Phetchabun, its cool climate, rolling green landscapes and morning mist make it one of Thailand’s most relaxing highland escapes. Come for winding mountain roads, panoramic viewpoints, a quiet stay above the valleys, locally grown coffee—and, farther into the countryside, vast grasslands and natural pine forests.

Just west of Bangkok, Nakhon Chai Si offers an easy escape into a slower side of the Central Plains. Old riverside communities, orchards, lotus farms and quiet canals still shape everyday life here, while generations of local food traditions have made the area a destination in its own right.
At Tha Na Old Market, historic shophouses are filled with restaurants and long-loved local flavours. Beyond the town, the landscape opens into farmland and waterways, where visitors can cruise along Maha Sawat Canal, paddle through a working lotus farm and try hands-on activities with local communities. Closer to Salaya, traditional orchard landscapes have also found new life as relaxed garden cafés hidden among fruit trees and narrow irrigation channels.
Close enough for an easy trip from Bangkok, yet distinctly rural in character, Nakhon Chai Si is a place to slow down, eat well and experience the countryside through the people, food and waterways that have shaped it for generations.

Just around 56 kilometres west of Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom is close enough for an easy day trip, yet its story reaches back more than a thousand years. It was one of the major centres of Dvaravati civilisation, an early culture that flourished in Central Thailand and played an important role in the development of Buddhism and Buddhist art in the region.
But Nakhon Pathom is more than an ancient city. Within a few kilometres, you can move between a monumental Buddhist stupa, rare Dvaravati sculptures, a graceful early-20th-century royal palace and old neighbourhoods where one of the city’s most celebrated dishes has been served for generations.
For travellers who enjoy history, architecture and local food, there is a surprising amount to discover in one compact city.

In Thailand, elephants have never belonged to just one story. They appear in royal chronicles and ancient battlefields, once worked alongside people in forests and transportation, and remain deeply woven into art, beliefs, ceremonies and community life.
Their role has changed over time, and so has the way travellers encounter them. Across Thailand, an elephant experience can mean staying in a village where elephants are part of the family, observing them in a northern forest, tracing their place in the history of an ancient capital, sharing a moment in the water, or learning what it actually takes to care for one.
Here are five very different ways to discover Thailand through its elephants.
