Why You Should Make Morristown Home

Nestled in scenic East Tennessee between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Cumberland Gap National Historic Park, Morristown is surrounded by gently rolling hills as well as the popular Cherokee and Douglas Lakes. Located between Bristol and Knoxville, a short 10-minute drive from I-81, Morristown serves as the regional hub for employment, shopping, recreation, healthcare and educational opportunities. The community has evolved from an agricultural based economy to a manufacturing based economy, producing a wide range of products such as plastics, automotive parts, personal care products, transit buses, frozen cakes and many others.

Morristown offers an abundance of of recreational opportunities, many of them centered in and around beautiful Cherokee Lake, which was recently named one of the top 10 bass lakes in the southeast. Fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, and triathlons are just a few of the activities that many find attractive when researching Morristown. The City’s parks and recreation department maintains 16 beautiful city parks and offers top-notch programming that appeals to families, seniors, and singles.

Hamblen County Schools are some of the best in Tennessee. Lincoln Heights Middle School 7th grade English language arts instructor Derek Voiles was selected the 2017 Tennessee Teacher of the Year. Post-secondary education is available at Walters State Community College, Tennessee Center for Applied Technology, and multiple four-year universities with locations in or close to Morristown.
