The Alcoa Police Department has been notified by the 911 Communications Center of a scam that has just started in our area.

Scammers are calling from 865-983-2133, which is the legitimate published phone number for the Blount County Fire Protection District. This appears to be an example of caller-ID spoofing, where scammers make a call appear to come from a trusted local number. BCFD is working on resolving this problem.

If you receive a call from this number at this time, do not reveal any personal information and hang up.

Today, the City of Alcoa, Alcoa Police Department, and Alcoa Fire Department will continue to remember the heroic acts of all citizens and first responders during these tragic events on September 11, 2001.

May we never forget those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and the families affected by this tragedy.

The City of Alcoa was notified by Waste Connections that the driver for the Wednesday recycling route was unable to complete all stops due to vehicle maintenance issues. All residences affected by this are asked to place their recycling carts back out on Friday, September 11, before 7:00 a.m. for pickup.

The first Food Truck Rally was a success! With over 300 attendees and amazing food vendors, our community had so much fun!
