Johnny Perez, Founder and Director of Day 1 Pictures, is a sought-after criminal justice reform advocate and speaker. Prisons Program Director for the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, working to end solitary confinement and U.S.-sponsored torture. Johnny is also a member of the Board of Directors for Juvenile Law Center and the Urban Justice Center, adding insight and guidance to non-p

rofit public interest law firms. He has been invited to present on criminal justice reform at institutions of higher learning nationwide and has published his commentary in The New York Times, Ebony Magazine, USA Today, and other outlets. As a proud father, Johnny lives in Harlem and received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from St. Francis College of Brooklyn, where he mentors formerly incarcerated students.

If you need a reason not to trust everything you see online, here’s one of many:

📸 The image on the left is a real photo of my living room—taken on my phone just last night.
🤖 The image on the right? Completely generated by AI. The person in that photo does not exist. And for the record—no one was in my home last night. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Let me be clear: I don’t think AI is inherently bad—no more than a knife is.
But just like a knife, AI can be misused. And there will be people who use this tool for more than it was meant for.
