T-Create is a monthly activity program specifically for teens and tweens hosted by Upton Town Library. DO I NEED TO BE FROM UPTON TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE PROGRAMS? Anybody from neighboring towns can also participate. WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE FOR THESE PROGRAMS? We generally host programs for 10 year olds to 18 year olds, or 5th graders to 12 graders. Sometimes programs are held with all of these ages together; other times they are broken up into closer age ranges. It depends on the type of activity, but this is mainly a teen/tween group. WHY ARE THE PROGRAMS USUALLY HELD ON FRIDAY AFTERNOONS? Friday afternoons seem to be the best time for middle to high-schoolers given their busy weekly schedules. If their schedules happen to change overtime, our schedule of events will most likely change along with theirs. DO I NEED TO STAY FOR ANY OF THE PROGRAMS? It is strongly encouraged that you don't. This is a social activity for the kids to let them have the time and space to be creative and expressive. WELL I'M A TEEN AND I WANT IN! SO HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR A PROGRAM? Because the library is typically closed on Friday afternoons when most of our teen programs are held, it is essential that teens sign up in advance for programs in order for us to gather the best estimate as to how many we should expect. Signing up can be done by calling Upton Town Library, emailing [email protected], or signing up in person at the circulation desk. CAN I USE FACEBOOK MESSENGER, TWITTER, OR INSTAGRAM TO SIGN UP? It is strongly urged for participants to register by one of the methods listed in the previous response rather through our social media sites. It's just easier for us to track who will come that way. Yes, T-Create is old school when it comes to signups, but in this case the old-fashioned way is the best way for us :-)
DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR A PROGRAM? Unfortunately because these events are held while the library is closed to patrons, we require that you sign up for our programs in advance, preferably before 2pm on the day of the program at the latest. This helps us know how many kids to prepare for and not leave any kids locked out outside. CANCELLATION POLICY
While we hope to offer teen library programs on a monthly basis throughout the school year, we have the right to cancel library programs due to no or low enrollment. If a limited amount of people are signed up by 2pm on the Friday of the program, every attempt will be made to personally notify them through email and a cancellation sign will always be posted on the main library doors. INCLEMENT WEATHER ON PROGRAM DAYS
The Library Director makes the decision to be open during hours of operation due to inclement weather and every reasonable effort will be made to be open as scheduled, consistent with safe access for the staff and the public. If Mendon-Upton Schools are closed due to inclement weather, storytimes and teen library programs will be cancelled. Should lightning be a factor, outdoor activities may be moved indoors. If a snow emergency is declared in Worcester County, programs may be closed early or canceled. Cancelled programs may or may not be rescheduled. Some programs may be held if the C/YA Librarian is in for the day and driving conditions for a majority of county residents are safe. This decision will be made by the C/YA Librarian and will be posted on here.
