Please meet Allan MacLellan - our wonderful Honorary Chair for the Sydney Kidney Walk.

His kidney journey began at a very young age. He had his first kidney surgery at just 15 years old, and it has truly been a lifelong adventure ever since. At 27, he had one kidney removed, and for more than 40 years, he has continued to face and overcome kidney challenges.

Through it all, he remains incredibly grateful for the strength he’s built and for the unwavering support from those around him. That support has meant more than words can express. You can read more about Allan's story at: https://kidney.akaraisin.com/ui/atlwalks2026/g/49507

Please join Allan and the local kidney community at our Kidney Walk this Sunday.

Date: June 14, 2026

Managing kidney disease can feel like navigating a never-ending maze of “don’ts.” Add rising grocery prices, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

Canning and pickling seasonal vegetables is a smart way to preserve produce when it’s in season to reduce food waste and keep nutritous options on hand.

A little planning today can make healthy, budget-friendly eating much easier tomorrow.

Let’s keep this momentum going strong.

Thanks to supporters like you, hundreds of people have already taken action for improved kidney care by reaching out to decision-makers who can help drive change.

Chronic kidney disease is impacting families — partners, parents, and children — across the country, and the consequences of inaction continue to grow each day.

We owe it to ourselves and those we care about to push for meaningful progress and real improvements in kidney health. Add your voice by signing the official House of Commons e-petition: https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Sign/e-7303

Every signature brings us closer to a future where kidney care is timely, equitable, and effective for everyone.

Without meaningful action, chronic kidney disease (CKD) is expected to impact over 6.2 million Canadians by 2050.

A new report, commissioned by The Kidney Foundation of Canada, underscores the urgent need for governments to focus on prevention, early detection, equitable access to care, and more robust kidney health data systems.

These findings build on the Foundation’s National Strategic Framework for Chronic Kidney Disease, which sets out a roadmap for a more sustainable and proactive approach to kidney care in Canada.

Kidney disease is not just a health concern — it is an escalating economic issue that affects patients, families, healthcare systems, and the workforce.

The time for coordinated action is now.
