The Child Advocacy Center of Northeast MO Serving children disclosing sexual abuse, physical abuse, and children who witness violence.

The primary goal of The Child Advocacy Center is to ensure that children disclosing abuse are not further victimized by the intervention systems designed to protect them. Services offered include forensic interviews, children and family advocacy, mental health therapy, and school and community-based prevention education programs. sive, coordinated approach is taken in response to allegations of child sexual and physical abuse occurring in our 14 county service area.

Recently, a child was struggling to complete their forensic interview and shared that they didn’t like our small interview room. Rather than asking the child to adapt to the space, our team adapted the space to the child. By setting up our mobile forensic interview equipment in our conference room, we were able to continue the interview in a space where the child felt more comfortable. Our Executive Director even gave up her office at a moment’s notice to help.

We want children to feel safe, comfortable, and heard when they’re with us. We’re so grateful to have a team that goes above and beyond to make that happen.

We are absolutely BLOWN AWAY!

This past weekend the new 7 Brew Coffee in Troy raised over $15,000 for the CAC during their Caffeine for a Cause fundraiser. In the last 10 days they have given away 44,000+ free drinks to the community and had lines wrapping around the parking lot for this event. A huge thank you to 7 Brew Coffee, their amazing team and the Troy community for showing up for local children who have faced abuse. You all make a difference! 💙

Our therapy team hosted today’s staff meeting and shared a wonderful presentation on stress. They encouraged staff to discuss with their table how it shows up, how it feels, and then they shared some healthy ways to manage it.

The meeting ended with a fun activity where staff decorated stones to serve as personal reminders to pause, take a few deep breaths, and remember “I can handle this”. Some staff chose meaningful quotes or pretty designs and a few chose something silly to make them smile. Each stone was a unique reminder to the person who made it.

A full board means that children are getting the help they need.

Today, 10 children from multiple counties were interviewed in our Wentzville office. All four of our interview rooms were in use. Days like today can be demanding, but every minute is worth it when it means a child is being heard.
