Our hearts go out to the family of Riley O’Neil, 35, a dedicated and cherished member of the Chicago Department of Transportation and champion of safer bike infrastructure. In addition to being a leader on the “Complete Streets” team, he personally helped install many bike racks around the city, including the rack right in front of our ward office at 4747 N Sawyer Ave.

This tragedy makes it clear that we need to finish the work that Riley started by creating safer streets for cyclists and pedestrians. We will continue his efforts to expand protected bike lanes all across Chicago and we will honor his memory by fighting like hell to tax the rich for the funding we need to prioritize green mass transit and safe streets for all.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved colleague, Riley O'Neil. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.

Riley was a cherished member of CDOT's Complete Streets team and previously led Chicago's bike parking program for several years. He was a dedicated public servant who devoted his career to making Chicago's streets safer and more accessible for everyone.

His loss is being felt deeply across the department, and he will be greatly missed.

Neighbors, for anyone willing to be party in a lawsuit to unmask ICE agents:

Kulis & Associates, Ltd is working with Metropolitan Family Services to file lawsuits on behalf of individuals who were brutalized by ICE during Operation Midway Blitz, with the goal of obtaining the names of the ICE agents in litigation for future accountability purposes. Having the names of agents that terrorized our communities is critical in the pursuit of criminal justice.
