The Spotted Towhee we received as a nestling is now fully fledged and hanging out in our juvenile aviary!

It might seem strange to sit in a food dish but it's actually this bird's way of claiming the dish as its territory. Birds also love to switch up what that they stand on, and the food dish has many different textures to experience. I mean, who doesn't love the feeling of squishing berries between their toes...

We are calling on our local community for some help! 🥬🥦🥒🥕

Currently in care we have MANY ducklings and vegetable eating critters and we are seeking leafy greens to feed to them all. We are going through so much right now, it's insane.

Due to how crazy busy the rescue is right now, we are asking that greens be clean and processed (nothing straight from the field, rooty and muddy) as we just don't have the time to process those sorts of veggies.

Our hospital is open from 9am-5pm, 7 days a week and any leafy green donations would be extremely welcome. 💚

Post feed nap 💤

There is something very precious about hearing these birds chirp persistently and seeing them gape and beg for food so enthusiastically, yet within 30 seconds of their feed, they are dozing off again!

These Yellow-rumped Warblers are still in their fledgling stage. They DEMAND feeding every 15 minutes from 7am until 8pm! As you can imagine, we are getting through A LOT of crickets, mealworms and fruit flies. Our staff and volunteers are working hard to get our patients from rescue to release.

Last year we raised a baby Red-tailed Hawk from fledgling to release ready. Baby raptors are often described as looking 'funky' or 'quirky' due to their juvenile feather growth. How would you describe these fluffy flyers?🪶

We use imprinting prevention practices for all of our baby critters to minimize the chance they will come to see humans as family and safe beings to hang with. Our dedicated, professional team has had great success with consistent practices over the years

Here we have two separate RTHA patients side by side for you to see the changes they go through in their first three years of life. Did you know these birds only get their signature red tails when sexually mature at roughly 2.5 years of age?

Our Chestnut-Backed Chickadees are growing so fast!

This pair are now giving their caregivers a run for their money... They have fully fledged and will take any opportunity to escape their tent and practice their flight. The sound these little birds make rings throughout our baby bird room all day long, they really are the chattiest duo here. 🐦‍⬛
